I wrote our names on the sides of the trains
In the old Aberdeen yard
Thinking one day you'll see, in the city of Marie
And return to this broken heart
I remember you crying over Ossian's writing
As you read his words soft and sweet
That was the last time, those were your last lines
I knew before you set out free
My Charlotte, my baby, my wild valley wind,
At night I hear cries from the deep
They sing they've seen you, out of the blue
On your stairway to the sea
So up your river I climbed to your Acadian mind
To explain my motive for my deed
My unrequited love, your God up above
My sweet spirit of the street
I never stop trying, I think of you smiling
As I spend my days waiting for you
My Charlotte, my baby, my wild valley wind
My Joan of the deep, dark and blue
I remember you crying over Ossian's writing
As you read his words soft and sweet
That was the last time, those were our last lines
I carved them in the linden tree
And, I wrote our names on the sides of the trains
in the old Aberdeen yard
Thinking one day you'll see, in the city of Marie
And return to this broken heart

Jeff's music is dripping in sincerity and full of heart. You can hear it in his voice, in the instruments, everything. It takes you a deep place within your own heart and mind. My favourite track is "A Little Closer", the lyrics hitting close to home. The way he sings so tenderly almost makes me wish I could be serenaded in such a way from someone I love! Brandon

Paper Window emotionally captures me with every listen. It houses my favourite song ever written and keeps me together when all hope feels lost. Keith Porteous (they/em)

This album has accompanied my life for nearly a decade and all the changes that time has brought. I love this music for so many reasons, but it is my ultimate comfort music for all my moods. Although I'm saddened that Jeff Pianki doesn't post to youtube anymore like the good old days, his sound is still distinct and warm. Can't imagine my life with out it. Abrande
